SWEDEN ROCK JUNE 8
A FANTASTIC AUDIENCE, A MAGIC EVENING

Our very first show in Sweden since 1985. At 08:30 pm we started of with “Heavy Metal Angels”. Finally, finally we met our home audience. And a lot of friends from other countries were there to share this moment with us. It felt like we were a large family, a Heavy Metal Family having a gathering for true metal.

Ragne: “When I heard the audience calling our name in the warm summer evening, I felt happiness beyond comprehension – enjoyed every single moment”.

“We have the power, ooh, of thunder
We can change the world together.”

Heavy Metal Angels, they were everywhere to be found. (We were told that 35.000 tickets were sold for each day.)

“There’s a fire in his eyes,
he can make you burn.
From the dead
he´ll make you return.

Sell your soul for gold
Do as you are told.
Run With the Devil.”

“Stand up! - Get up!
For Heavy Metal Heaven tonight.”

The third song was “Heavy Metal Heaven”

His heart of stone
Sword of steel
He's changing all the world”.

““The Guitar is My Sword
I´ll fight till I die.
Rock´n´roll is my Lord
till the very last sigh.”

Ragne:On this song I use my Wahlgaard to reach the notes I long for.

We played an extended version that we also aim to include as a bonus track on the rerelease of Death Or Glory.

“We had to go to sea
For a task that´s seald
For the treasure of life.

Fight good and fight hard
On the battlefield
Yes life is an endless strife.

We are the Walhalla Warriors
we´re gonna sail for ever and more.”

Number eight this night. A song from the next album, aimed to be released in 2019.

Thodoris Vogiatzis the bass player of the Greek Heavy Load tribute band Heathens from the North, did an excellent job on “Walhalla Warriors” and “Lionheart”
(Thodoris, Manolis Karazeris and the other guys in Heathens from the North played an important part in us coming back.)

“On this journey of life
our deeds are free from sin.”

“We are the puppets of preachers
We are mere dogs on leashes
And, where there’s power there is greed
and people bound to bleed to fill the need.”

We come from the northern parts of this world where winter is hard and summer is short. We are the “Heathens from the North”.

Photo: Suada Wahlner.

“They came from far beyond,
across the sea of evil.
From a land so strange,
Defying the Powers of the Dark Sea.”

Ragne: “I felt the heaviness of Heathens from The North in every fiber of my body. It is something I love.”

“Committing sins every day
You've got no conscience to lead the way
No use to pray, no use to lie
Why don't you confess before you die.”

Styrbjörn lead vocals on “Trespasser”, number twelve in the set.

“Trespasser, trespasser you can´t run.”

The rough beat and lyrics of “Trespasser” made us soak of sweat and we loved it.

“Trespasser, trespasser you´re killing the sun.”

Ragne: I remember Eddy asking me in 1985 if I could play the solo on “I´m Alive. I was honoured. Being 33 years since I played it last I enjoyed it immensely.

Styrbjörn’s drum solo befell the surroundings like rolling thunder.

The drum solo and the airborn drumsticks
Styrbjörn: “Why must them darn drumsticks always be so goddamn slippery!”

condemning them all
I´m gonna fight the world
in my power”

Ragne: It was fantastic to hear the audience take the words:
“I am Stronger than Evil
I´m gonna change my world.”

Photo: L.A.Photo.

“In my Fathers blood
at last I understood
that life is not for free.
For freedom you must fight.
I am Stronger than Evil”

This night was fantastic.
Now we had come to the last song
and we were already longing for and dreaming of
the next gathering.

“For king and country
I'll ride the sky with Thor.

Singing Swords
Valhalla calls,
I'm on my way”

Photo: L.A.Photo.

“We fought to the last breath.
Wonder if we will shake hands
beyond the gates of death.”

“We´re gonna sail for ever and more.”

Ragne: We met our home audience and that is always special, I was truly touched. This night was amazing and we made many new friends. In the crowd I saw many friends from Up the Hammers and Keep it True and it made me happy, honoured and proud. These two shows were also magic, each in its own way.
